Attendance Matters

Being in school is incredibly important to your child’s academic achievement, wellbeing, and wider development.

There is evidence to suggest that regular school attendance is a key mechanism to support children's future success as an adult. Research shows that children who attend school regularly will earn more as an adult and achieve greater levels of happiness.

While I recognise the temptation to book a family holiday during school term time due to the financial savings, I want to encourage you to consider the impact of this on your child’s academic, social and personal development.

Just 4 days out of school equates to 20 hours of lost learning and we know that this places a child at significant risk of falling behind their peers. Children who attend school every day are more 30% more likely to achieve the expected standards in reading, writing and maths.

Term-time holidays will not be authorised, unless there are exceptional circumstances, and will be marked as unauthorised on your child’s record.

I would like to thank all our families who ensure their children are in school on time every day.
