Parent Forum - Feedback
Thank you!
Dear Parents/carers,
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you who attended our Parent Forum this morning. It was a pleasure to see so many of you, and we are thrilled to report that it was our best turnout ever. Your willingness to raise concerns through the appropriate channels is greatly appreciated, as it enables us to address these matters effectively. We were also delighted to hear the many positive comments regarding Parkview, particularly your satisfaction with the education and environment we provide for your children.
During the forum, several key points were raised:
Firstly, some parents expressed concerns regarding the effectiveness of communication from the school since the removal of Class Dojo. We, too, valued Dojo; however, it was regrettable that some parents misused this platform. We want to take this opportunity to remind you that there are multiple ways to reach out to your child’s class teacher.
- You can speak with a member of the Leadership Team at the school gate in the morning or at the end of the school day. Our Leadership Team are myself and Mrs Cunningham, along with Miss Jackaman, Mr Arshid and Ms Melbourne.
- Teaching Assistants are available on the door in the morning, and teachers are present at the end of the day.
- Additionally, please feel free to send emails to our admin team at admin@parkview.derby.sch.uk, who can relay messages to staff members.
As a result of you raising these concerns, we have now added all teachers to our emailing system so they can share dates and other important messages, enhancing our communication.
Another concern raised was regarding healthy snacks for breaktime. We have noticed an increase in children bringing packets of crisps and large chocolate bars into school. We kindly ask that you send your child to school with a healthy snack, such as fresh fruit, vegetable sticks, cheese strings, rice cakes, or low-sugar cereal bars.
In relation to behaviour management, it was noted that there is inconsistency in the card system. We have scheduled a staff meeting on Wednesday, 3rd December, to ensure that all staff members are consistently applying our behaviour policy, particularly around which behaviour warrants a yellow or red card.
We appreciate the fabulous suggestion regarding the establishment of an Amazon Wishlist to assist with school resourcing, and our admin team will look into this promptly and let you know if and when this goes live.
We also discussed our Parent and Friends Association (PFA), a dedicated group of individuals who help raise valuable funds for our school. If you are interested in helping out with this, please contact the team at pfa@parkview.derby.sch.uk
Finally, we are pleased to confirm that we will be holding our Christmas singing assembly this year on Friday, 19th December, at 2:30 PM in the school hall. This is for Key Stage 2 children only.
Thank you once again for your valuable suggestions and for attending today’s forum. Your engagement plays a crucial role in helping us move our school forward.
Yours sincerely,
Miss Jarvis
