What is Autism?

Autism is a lifelong condition that affects how a person communicates and interacts with other people.
Everyone's experience of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is different. The 'Amazing Things Happen' video by Alexander Amelines provides an interesting and useful explanation of Autism which you may want to watch with your child.
Although ASD is different for each individual child, many children with Autism are under-sensitive or over-sensitive to sensory input. They may have difficulties identifying their own emotions and why they are feeling a certain way. They may struggle to sleep and/or eat.
If you would like more information about ASD, please make an appointment to speak with Lisa Jackaman, our Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-ordinator. We also have more information in the Special Education Needs & Disabilities part of our website.
