Teaching of the protected characteristics at Parkview

Children need to be taught about these protected characteristics. Therefore, it is essential that they gain an understanding of the world they are growing up in, and learn how to live alongside, and show respect for, a diverse range of people.

Here, we pride ourselves on having a well-considered approach to the teaching of the protected characteristics, in order to:

  • Eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation

  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a relevant protected characteristic and persons who do not share it

  • Develop good relations between people who share a relevant protected characteristic and people who do not share it

Have a look at the overview below to give you a taste of how this is delivered in our school. This is not an exhaustive list.
