The Orchard Base
We have high expectations of all of our pupils, and we use assessments of pupils’ needs to embed a culture where we prioritise their needs. At Parkview, we recognise that children develop and learn at different rates.
We are extremely proud of our provision in The Orchard Base which has developed as a result of close work with parents, professionals and staff. We started our Orchard Base in January 2025 and this has been evolving ever since. We have worked closely with St Giles specialist provision to enhance the support for all of our pupils, ensuring reasonable adjustments are made.
The Orchard Base strengthens inclusion across the whole school. It enables children to gradually transition or reintegrate to full participation in mainstream classes. For some of our children, time is maximised in the mainstream classroom with carefully planned and adapted lessons whilst also providing the flexibility for those children to revisit The Orchard Base to help themselves regulate. Children can access The Orchard Base throughout the day and work away from the classroom to access support in a different environment.
Other children may need ongoing support and spend most of their time in The Orchard Base where the children have access to a broad, ambitious curriculum, aligned with mainstream, but adapted to remove barriers. The children only return to class minimally for lessons like PE and art.
As for all children, the expectations are high and progress is tracked against their baselines and regularly reviewed.
Each day starts with a sensory circuit so we are ready to learn!
