• Harvest Festival

  Parkview will be collecting items for the Padley Centre over the next week to celebrate Harvest. If you are able to help, please send your donations into school from Tuesday next week. All items will be collected on Friday 23rd September 2022.

  We are looking forward to welcoming all pupils back to Parkview on MONDAY 5th SEPTEMBER. Please remember the 1st and 2nd September are INSET days and pupils are not to attend school on these days.

• Transition

  Pupils at Parkview will be spending the next three days getting to know their new teachers, classrooms and routines. We will be welcoming our new Nursery and Reception pupils too which will be lovely. We also wish all our Year 6 pupils going to their new secondary schools, a wonderful three days too and we look forward to hearing all about your experiences when you are back at the end of the week.

• Year 6 Primary Explorers Day

  Our Year 6 pupils have had an interesting day working with Derby University at the main campus today. They've taken part in workshops, including animation, and been able to interview students about their experience of university life.

  

• Oakwood Scarecrow Trail

  Year 6 have had fun creating a scarecrow for the Oakwood Scarecrow Trail. The theme was an event from Queen Elizabeth's reign. We recreated Queen Elizabeth and Paddington having tea.

  

• Jubilee Cakes

  Today we had the Platinum Jubilee Bake off Competition. We could not believe how many entries we had from staff and pupils and we loved having our families join us to enjoy eating them on the field after school. Luckily we had a couple of 'familiar' faces judging! Thank you to Mrs Denton & Mrs Arshid for organising this lovely event.

  

• Jubilee Biscuit Decorating from Birds

  Year 3 and Miss O'Brien were very grateful today when a huge Birds Bakery lorry arrived with biscuit decorating sets for them to complete to celebrate the jubilee. Thank you very much Birds!

  

• Musical Club Trip

  Our Musical Club have had a fantastic time today watching Joseph at Birmingham Hippodrome. We have once again received lovely comments from members of the public regarding their enthusiasm and behaviour throughout the show and we are very proud of each and every one of the pupils who attended. Mr Arshid even managed to bump into Sir Tim Rice and get a programme signed for the school!

  

• Safer Internet day

  We are learning about internet safety through a number of texts being shared across school all week. Please ask your child about the book they are using this week and how it is helping them learn to be safe online.

  

• NACE Challenge Award

  We are really proud at Parkview to have achieved our 3rd reaccreditation for the NACE Challenge Award following a visit from an assessor last Friday. This award shows that we develop opportunities to challenge all pupils within our curriculum. We are currently the only school in Derby City to have this award.
